Arbor Terrace

Design Iterations

Farrand drew her first plan for the Herb Garden in 1927. Plants listed include rosemary, Blue Hyssop, Rose Geranium, and Artemesia abrotanum, among others.

Farrand's second design, completed May 24th, 1933, simplifies the planting beds and replaces the plantings.

Farrand's final plan, dated January 24th, 1934, maintains the same bed configuration but amends the planting list for beds and borders.

Concurrent with the design of the arbor plaques and planting schemes, Farrand prepared plans for the Arbor Terrace furniture. To the left a detail sketch for a seat for the Herb Garden, sketch by Beatrix Farrand, July 1932
