James Monroe Park, Reservations 28 & 29, NW (Abad Ocubillo 2012)

Seward Square, Reservations 38-43, SE (Abad Ocubillo 2012)
The ‘Square-Triangle’ is located at sites originally identified by L’Enfant and/or Ellicott as rectilinear open spaces, integrated with the public right-of-way (Bednar 2006). Over time, these squares or plazas would be reconfigured to accommodate the needs of traffic and circulation, rendering pairs or groups of triangular parks (HABS No. DC-685, 1993; HABS No. DC-706, 1993). This is the case at Seward Square and Eastern Market Square, SE; Scott Circle NW; as well as a number of locations along Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.
